Fodor's Review

It's only an hour drive from Durango, but this family-owned and -operated guest ranch in the Upper Pine River Valley, where you stay in cozy log cabins with wood stoves, might as well be a world away. The riding programs are the main attraction here; you will be matched with a horse that fits your experience and comfort level. Other activities include Cattle 101 (an introduction to herding), hiking, rafting, fishing, and mountain biking. There is a main lodge and pool.

Cabin accommodations include modern baths, and meals are distinctly gourmet (no chuckwagon fare here), served in a dining room with views of the mountains. Ranch vacations are a week long while B&B can be rented by the night.
