Fodor's Review:

The town of Manassa is about 23 mi from Alamosa, south on U.S. 285 and 3 mi east on Route 142. Known as the Manassa Mauler, one of the greatest heavyweight boxing champions of all time is honored in his hometown at the Jack Dempsey Museum (401 Main St. 719/843-5207. June-Aug., Tues.-Sat. 9-5; Sept.-May, town clerk will open it for visitors Mon.-Wed., other days by appointment)).
