Cripple Creek and Victor Narrow Gauge Railroad

Cripple Creek and Victor Narrow Gauge Railroad Review

A favorite with kids, the Cripple Creek and Victor Narrow Gauge Railroad weaves over reconstructed trestles and past abandoned mines to the Anaconda ghost town, then returns to Cripple Creek during the 4-mi, 45-minute ride. In the boom days of the 1870s through the silver crash of 1893, more than 50 ore-laden trains made this run daily. For years Victor has been a sad town, virtually a ghost of its former self. Walking the streets—past abandoned or partially restored buildings—has been an eerie experience. But there's a partial renewal of the town, because Victor is again home to a gold mine, the Cripple Creek and Victor Mining Company. From mid-June to early October, trains depart every 40 minutes.
