This railroad carries passengers on excursions between Alamosa and La Veta some weekdays. You can also take a weekend ride from Alamosa to the Fir Summit Amphitheater where a wind- and solar-powered performance stage at 9,400 feet attracts regional and national Western and folk artists. The Rio Grande also offers a fall colors trip in September and October.
