Elegant doesn't do justice to this restaurant's dining room, a classy, soothing room done in tones of gold and hunter green. Exclusive upholstery, flatware, and dishes add to the upscale attitude, as does the formal service style and a top-shelf wine list. The contemporary menu has an updated Mediterranean bent underscored by French techniques, with such classics as braised short ribs sharing space with antelope strudel and black truffle baked potatoes. The tasting menu, geared to theatergoers heading to the Denver Performing Arts Complex a block away, gives a rare chance to try chef Taylor's eclectic creations, and the stone-lined wine cellar makes for intimate private dining.

By the time I dined at Restaurant Kevin Taylor, I had eaten at Sushi Sasa and Mizuna's. I was STUFFED! But I had to try another (multi-course) tasting menu as I am totally without good food here in this part of Ohio! It was here that I decided to part with my steak tartare virginity status as I could tell from the ratings, staff professionalism, decor, and prices of the restaurant that this would be the best place to experience this dish. I was right. The sommelier was superb with his recommendations. The wait staff was punctual without being intrusive; friendly without losing their air of professionalism. As I had ordered the tasting menu, the chef served me the best, but I would have liked to have seen him/her dare new ideas outside of the prescribed menu. Because of this, the restaurant had more of a corporate feel than the personal touch of the previous two restaurants. (And, I think I would have enjoyed it more had I not eaten so much=well the two nights before.) The atmosphere was moderately pretentious, but its location, I think, requires that sort of thing being so close to the theatre. I did have lots of elbow room which I prefer. If I lived in Denver, I would definately return to RKT for a special evening out with my husband.
