Fodor's Review

This trendy yet unpretentious local institution was Denver's first brewpub, and now its owner, John Hickenlooper, is Colorado's governor. Different crowds frequent its pool-hall, cabaret, and dining-room levels—with the younger crowd on the top floor enjoying drinks and bar snacks during happy hour or down in the lower cabaret level for improv or live music, and families and urban professionals dining on the main level. Try the terrific buffalo meatloaf or venison served

over mashed potatoes with fried onions. Wash it down with one of the Wynkoop's trademark microbrews—try either the exemplary Railyard Ale or the spicy chili beer.

Save yourself and go elsewhere!

I took my wife here for her 30th birthday party. They do not take reservations on the weekends so we arrived an hour prior to the rest of our party to get a table. We were told the wait would be an hour. An hour and a half later we checked back with the host stand. We were told that the GM had come into the restaurant with his private party and took the seating area that the host stand was reserving for our party!! They actually told us that?

We waited another half hour and havinf tivkets to go see a show we had to eat and they broke our party up over three booths. NO apology from the management or any compensation was offered. I guess the GM was too busy pushing around paying customers and inflating his own ego to care about anyone else.

Worst Food Ever, Beer Actually Disgusting

Wow. If there were negative rating points, this place would get them. The food was AWFUL. Worse than any chain restaurant I've ever been to, even Applebee's. The Mayor is great, but he needs someone to overhaul this place and teach them how to cook food. The Ahi Tuna salad came with icebox cold "seared" tuna (not sure what day it was cooked, but it wasn't today). The "house special" shepard's pie was a bad lasagna - I know, lasagna! - overcooked and

tasteless. Ten of the beers our table tasted were UNDRINKABLE - either weird concoctions that shouldn't have been served, like the chili beer, or just bad takes on classics - IPAs, Lagers, Cider. Service was alright, except for when the waiter wiped his nose at the table! On the bright side, no indigestion, because it was unedible!
