For a property owned by a hotel chain, the Courtyard by Marriott Denver Downtown has an authentically boutique feel, so travelers can earn Marriott Rewards points and enjoy a unique stay. The location is perfect for convention or business travel as well as theater access. Though there’s no pool, the hotel and spacious rooms are fairly kid-friendly, especially compared to other properties in the same area.

This boutique-style property, located in the 1887-built Joslin’s Dry Goods Building, is in the center of downtown, adjacent to the financial district, near shopping, the performing arts complex, and convention center. Because of the location, the hotel is designed with both business and leisure travelers in mind.

Room
The 177 guest rooms incorporate funky decor, like bold patterned chairs cleverly mismatched against damask bedspreads and houndstooth carpeting. Rooms come with WiFi, mini fridges, and microwaves, while suites include tables with seating for four. The Presidential suite, also known as the Joslin suite, perched on the top floor of the six-story hotel, has its own private patio.
Tip Book a room on a higher floor for better views of the downtown area and for less chance of any street noise.

For being in an historic, repurposed department store, the Courtyard by Marriott Denver Downtown lobby is incredibly contemporary. The open floor plan with center staircase and atrium is outfitted in sleek check-in kiosks, chrome light fixtures, plus a mix of dark wood and lighter neutral tile, wallpaper, and paint. The adjoining library has a fireplace, various seating, including a blue velveteen couch, and community tables/workspaces.
Gym
The well-stocked fitness center’s resistance machines, treadmills, exercise balls, and ellipticals can help traveling guests stay in shape. Access is available 24-hours.
Dining
The Rialto Cafe is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and provides room service varying hours, depending on the day. In addition to a fully stocked bar—and events like wine tastings and wine dinners—on weekends, the Rialto attracts locals who come for the bottomless mimosa brunch. In addition to the full restaurant, there is also a Starbucks, accessible from both the street and the hotel lobby.

The Courtyard by Marriott Denver Downtown is located directly on the 16th Street Mall, a lively pedestrian promenade designed by legendary architect I.M. Pei. Traffic changes throughout the day, but expect packed sidewalks during the lunch hour and a mix of businesspeople, families, tourists, and some transitional populations. Parking is valet only, but, with ample access to ride-share services, taxicabs, and the MallRide shuttle, travelers can easily get by without a car at all.

Street tacos, avocado-lime cheesecake, abundant tequilas, and even bottomless brunch margaritas await you at Otra Vez Cantina (6-minute walk). With more than 45 beers on tap, try Paramount Cafe (8-minute walk), inside the historic Paramount Theater for Colorado craft beers and burgers.
