Estes Park Center/YMCA of the Rockies Review

This 890-acre family-friendly property has a wealth of attractive and clean lodging options among its five lodges and 11 cabins. Sign up for a class and learn a skill like calligraphy, fly-fishing, or compass reading. Accommodations range from lodge rooms (with either queen beds or bunks) and simple cabins for two to four people up to larger cabins that can take as many as 40 people. A meal plan is available for the all-you-can-eat buffet. There's a Frisbee-golf course, and a climbing wall to hone your rock-climbing skills.

    Functional and Great for Families

The YMCA is a great place to build memories and allow your family to experience the great outdoors of the Rockies. Rooms are clean and functional we were happy to discover a welcome addition of hair dryers in each bathroom this time. The food in the cafeteria is what you might expect in a place that feeds a lot of people in a short period of time; think basics such as meatloaf, pork chops and baked fish, and hit or miss in terms of flavors. There is usually a good selection of veggies that you can make into a salad. Overall, good variety of things on site to do; the pool could use more lifeguards (gets backed up and people can't get in if there aren't enough guards) and there should be a better place for the yoga classes, but overall a nice solid choice for a family vacation spot.
