Talking about the weather is not boring at the National Center for Atmospheric Research, where the hands-on exhibits, video presentation, and one-hour tour fires up kids' enthusiasm for what falls out of the sky. The architect I.M. Pei's distinctive buildings stand majestically on a mesa at the base of the mountains, where you can see mule deer and other wildlife. After browsing the field guides and science kits, follow the interpretive NCAR Weather Trail to learn
about the mesa's weather, climate, plants, and wildlife. The 0.4-mile loop is wheelchair accessible. If you can't make the guided tour, self-guided and audio tours are available during regular hours.
