Hotel Aspen Review

Just a few minutes from the mall and the mountain, this hotel on the town's main drag is a great find. The modern exterior opens up with huge windows that take full advantage of the spectacular view; the lobby is sleek and contemporary. Rooms (some with gas fireplaces) are comfortable, if not luxurious, with plenty of down pillows and comforters. Most have balconies or terraces, and a few have hot tubs. A full hot breakfast is included in the room rate, as is après-ski wine and cheese.

    It's OK

Hotel Aspen is nothing fancy, but it gets the job done. Location is good; it's an easy walk to downtown. There's a city park close by, too -- a plus for families. My children also enjoyed the outdoor swimming pool, which is harder to come by in Aspen. Decor is where they could improve; room was nothing special, with low ceilings and carpet that needed some help; we had to walk half a block and around a maze to find the room, too. Rate included breakfast, however, and that was more than adequate. Not my favorite place to stay in Aspen, but a pretty good find for families.
