Hotel Jerome Review

Fresh from a multimillion-dollar makeover, the luxurious Hotel Jerome, first opened in 1889, has swapped its Victorian style for an upbeat, private club-like decor that retains the stately hotel's historic integrity but gives it a sumptuous new sheen. The lobby successfully mixes period antiques with contemporary furniture. Huge guest rooms with high ceilings pay homage to the Old West, with chairs covered in buffalo plaid and cowhide. The new Living Room lounge is a lively gathering space with cozy seating areas, and the legendary J-Bar remains a locals' favorite. While the fitness center and new onsite spa are small, guests still have complimentary access to the larger, full-service Aspen Club & Spa down the road.

    Way past its prime

With room decor that would depress a funeral director, this place is living on past glory. Employees try hard to help, but most requests must be repeated twice - or more. I am happy to pay for quality, but this was the expense without the value. Too bad.
