This hotel is the only true ski-in ski-out property in Aspen. Belgian wool carpets and overstuffed couches distinguish the lobby. The luxurious rooms have fireplaces, beds piled with down comforters, and large marble baths. Equally superior is the staff, who anticipate your needs. The Montagna restaurant ($$$$) serves delicious farmhouse fare. In summer the most sought after tables are on the patio with views of Aspen Mountain; even your dog can enjoy a gourmet meal from the doggie menu. The bar hosts one of town's most fashionable après-ski scenes. Pros: ski-in and ski-out, great people-watching. Cons: expensive, difficult to get a room in high-season.
