Redwood Mountain Grove

  • Address: Drive 5 mi south of Grant Grove on Generals Hwy. (Rte. 198), then turn right at Quail Flat; follow it 1½ mi to the Redwood Canyon trailhead, Kings Canyon National Park, CA | Map It

Fodor's Review:

This is the largest grove of giant sequoias in the world. As you head south through Kings Canyon toward Sequoia on Generals Highway, several paved turnouts allow you to look out over the treetops. The grove itself is accessible only on foot or by horseback, but the drive to the trailhead, on a twisting, rutted dirt road down a steep gorge, is dramatic in itself.
