Fodor's Review

Two miles outside the park's Arch Rock entrance, this modern property is the most convenient place to spend the night if you are unable to secure lodgings in the valley. All rooms have good views, but the ones with balconies that overlook the Merced River are the best. You have your choice of four pools here, one of which is indoors. The restaurant cooks up an impressive breakfast buffet, and there are both a restaurant and a pizza joint on-site (though the latter is open

only from April through October). Many of the rooms, however, come with kitchenettes.

Great Hotel @ Good Price

Hotel was VERY clean and staff was very kind, giving us a deal on the deluxe room during the off-season. In-room kitchenette was a nice feature. Outdoor hot-tub by the river is fantastic and indoor whirlpool baths are a nice treat too. Didn't eat at the restaurant.

closest to S. entrance

The hotel is the closest to the parks entrance. Ask for a river-view room with kitchen, fireplace and jacuzzi tub. The rooms were nice, but VERY thin walls! Area around the hotel was run-down... employees mobile homes trashy and unkempt. Small market with supplies and tourist buys. Very expensive restaurant. The nearest town is Mariposa - approx 30 down the mountain road.

We liked it

About a 15 minute drive to the day-use parking lot in the Valley. Wished we spent the small extra charge for a river front room but our room (with a balcony) was fine. The restaurants were adequate and reasonable. Good bar--sometimes the bartenders would make margaritas in pint glasses.

Close, comfortable and congenial

It has all you need andis well located to see you into most of the park without too much traffic. Has a mini-grocery, decent (make reservations) restaurant and the rooms are comfortable. Re atmosperhe: yes its on a river, but it is also on a highway. Stay here, get your atmosphere in the park.
