Orange County and Catalina Island Restaurants

Napa Rose

Fodor's Review

Done up in a lovely arts and crafts style, this eatery overlooks a woodsy corner of Disney's California Adventure park. The contemporary cuisine is matched with an extensive wine list, with 1,000 labels and 80 available by the glass. For a look into the open kitchen, sit at the counter and watch the chefs as they whip up such signature dishes as pan-roasted diver scallops in a sauce of lobster, lemon, and vanilla, and slowly braised beef short rib in a Cabernet jus. There's

also a list of kid-friendly dishes. A cocktail on the outdoor patio with a fire pit is a pleasant way to end the night. The four-course, $95 prix-fixe menu changes weekly.

Lovely Anniversary Dinner Here!

After a full day in Disneyland, we headed over to Napa Rose for our anniversray dinner last month. Everything was perfect, the food was wonderful, great service in a lovely ambiance. The Sea Scallops appetizer was especially good. Cheers! :)

No Kids, Please!

Enjoyed the food and the wine pairings that went with the tasting menu, but found the servers were not up to par with the quality of the food and were not knowledgeable about food or wine. We had a nice intimate table, but this was quickly eclipsed by a party of 12 complete with young kids. I realize it's Disneyland, but why are you eating dinner at 9 pm with little ones and how can you afford a $35 entree for your youngsters? The couple at the

adjacent table were more interested in their separate cell phones and having a loud argument that we really shouldn't have heard. The sounds from the open kitchen are also somewhat distracting. We also objected to waiting 20 minutes for a table that we booked 2 months in advance. Decor is nice, food is very good, service is so-so and some of the other diners had poor judgement. They also gave the birthday dessert to my husband, even though he had told them it was MY birthday!

Better Places to go in this Price range

Have to agree with the review below; this is supposed to be a great restaurant, but our food was nothing special, and the atmosphere wasn't great.

There's A McDonald's Nearby if You're Hungry

This place is just not good. The food is very expensive. I have a $30 coq a vin and it was awful. It cam with some julienned vegetables and the smallest amount of chicken-mostly dark meat, you've ever seen. It looked like 1/4 of a cornish game hen. The lobster bisque was inedibly salty. The dessert appeared to have been done off-site in a bakery---days before. It's really a wine restaurant and their wine list is impressive but there are plenty of

OC restaurants with impressive wine lists and amazing food...many of which are much cheaper than this place. In addition, the atmosphere seems improper in comparison to the restaurant. It's brightly lit and the tables are out in the open so there's no intimacy to the arrangements. It's just a waste of money.
