In a nod to Laguna's art history, Studio has house-made specialties that entice the eye as well as the palate. You can't beat the location, atop a 50-foot bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean. And because the restaurant occupies its own Craftsman-style bungalow, it doesn't feel like a hotel dining room. Under the deft direction of Executive Chef Craig Strong, the menu changes seasonally and features the finest seafood and the freshest locally grown produce (some herbs come from a small garden just outside the kitchen). You might begin with paper-thin charred shrimp carpaccio or black pepper–seared hamachi before moving on to perfectly cooked King salmon in subtle coriander sauce or lamb chops on a bed of polenta. The wine list here is bursting with nearly 2,500 labels. Service is crisp and attentive.
