Point Arena

Occupied by an eclectic mix of long-time locals and long-haired surfers, this former timber town is part New Age, part rowdy—and always laid back. The one road going west out of downtown will lead you to the harbor, where fishing boats unload urchins and salmon and there's almost always someone riding the waves.
