Fodor's Expert Review Inns of Mendocino

10481 Howard St., Mendocino, California, 95460, USA

Each of the three Victorian properties managed by California-based Four Sisters Inns has its appeal—Blue Door for its garden, Packard House for its serene setting, JD House for its ocean views—with all three worth consideration for their proximity to restaurants, shops, and the Mendocino Headlands. The service is efficient but not too chummy, with the staff well qualified to dispense touring and other advice if desired. Though refreshed with richly colored walls, crisp linens, and contemporary art and furnishings, the inns retain their historic charm.
