The Dow Villa Motel and the historic Dow Hotel sit in the center of Lone Pine. The hotel was built in 1923 to cater to the film industry. Both buildings are within walking distance of just about everything in town. The motel has modern amenities, while the hotel has an Old West feel, containing antique furniture and pictures of John Wayne (who stayed here) or Mt. Whitney.

We always stay at the Dow Villa whenever we visit Lone Pine. Whether in the old part of the hotel or the newer section, the rooms are clean, the staff is friendly and ready with information, and the historic flavor only adds to the fun. "Lynn 1938" was etched into the wall in the bathroom of our room. Now, who could that be? A good meal is only steps away at the High Sierra Cafe. Beautiful views of Mt. McKinley while basking in the hottub. My favorite
