Mojave Desert Sights

Antelope Valley Poppy Reserve

Antelope Valley Poppy Reserve Review

The California poppy, the state flower, can be spotted just about anywhere in the state, but the densest concentration is in this quiet park. Seven miles of trails (parts of which are paved, but inclines are too steep for wheelchairs) lead you through 1,745 acres of hills carpeted with poppies and other wildflowers. Peak blooming time is usually March through May, though you can hike the grounds year-round. The visitor center has books and information about the reserve and other desert areas.
