Paramount Theatre Review
Perhaps the most glorious art-deco specimen in the city, if not the entire Bay Area, the Paramount operates as a venue for concerts and performances of all kinds, from the Oakland East Bay Symphony to Tom Waits and Elvis Costello. The popular monthly movie nights start off with a 30-minute Wurlitzer concert preceding classic films such as Casablanca. At 10 am on the first and third Saturday of each month, you can take a marvelous two-hour tour of the building.
