Sam's Chowder House

Sam's Chowder House Review

An East Coast-style seafood joint in the Bay Area? This waterfront restaurant isn't textbook Cape Cod, but that's okay—dine here, and you'll get the best of both coasts: true New England-style clam chowder and lump crab cakes—but also ahi tuna poke with sesame oil and scallions, or perhaps local halibut with mango salsa. Indoor seats are in one of several long dining rooms; outdoor seats are warmed by gas fire pits and heaters on chilly days; and every seat in the house looks out to the water. The attached market sells fresh fish and picnic food.
