By Bus in Santa Barbara and the Central Coast

Greyhound provides service from San Francisco and Los Angeles to San Luis Obispo, Ventura, and Santa Barbara. From Monterey and Carmel, Monterey-Salinas Transit operates buses to Big Sur between May and mid-October. From San Luis Obispo, Central Coast Transit runs buses around Santa Maria and out to the coast. Santa Barbara Metropolitan Transit District provides local service. The State Street and Waterfront shuttles cover their respective sections of Santa Barbara during the day. South Coast Area Transit buses serve the entire Ventura County region.
