Pismo State Beach
Pismo State Beach Review
One of the busiest state beaches in the county, Pismo offers a slew of activities along the 17-mile western edges of Oceano, Grover Beach, and Pismo Beach. Hike, surf, golf, ride horses, swim, fish in a lagoon or off the pier, and dig for Pismo clams. From November through late February, one of the nation's largest colonies of monarch butterflies rests in a grove of eucalyptus and Monterey pine trees (Hwy. 1, 3 miles north of Pier Ave.) Entrances to day use parking areas are off Hwy. 1 (milepost 8) and at Pier Ave. in the south. Facilities: food and drink; lifeguards (seasonal); parking (fee); showers; toilets; water sports. Best For: sunset; surfing; swimming; walking.
