The Hitching Post II Review

You'll find everything from grilled artichokes to quail at this casual eatery just outside Solvang, but most people come for the wonderful smoky Santa Maria–style barbecue. Be sure to try a glass of owner-chef-winemaker Frank Ostini's signature Highliner Pinot Noir, a star in the film Sideways.

    The Hitching Post II Review

Being a fan of the movie, Sideways, I felt I should dine at the Hitching Post. The restaurant is almost exactly as it appears in the movie...dark woods and casual.

The food and the wine...well, let's just say I had a legendary dining experience. My filet was melt in your mouth, literally.

The wine was some of the best I tasted in Santa Inez, and I tasted a lot. From their signature, Highliner Pinot to their Syrah to their blends - you can't go wrong. Big, beautiful and complex. No wonder Miles (from the movie) was a regular!

I wish I lived closer to the HP!
