Fodor's Review:

Arthur Beal (aka Captain Nit Wit, Der Tinkerpaw) spent 51 years building Nit Wit Ridge, a home with terraced rock gardens. For building materials, he used all kinds of collected junk: beer cans, rocks, abalone shells, car parts, TV antennas -- you name it. The site, above Cambria's West Village, is a State Historic Landmark. You can drive by and peek in; better yet, call ahead for a guided tour of the house and grounds.
