At this appealingly retro cluster of adobe-and-redwood buildings in the heart of Big Sur, you can choose between simple yet comfortable motel-style rooms and frontier-style cottages in the woods. All are decorated with photos of Big Sur; the cottages have gas fireplaces. Pros: In the heart of town, walking distance from restaurants. Cons: Near busy road and parking lot, no phones or TVs.
