Fodor's Review:

From giant picture windows at this second-floor spot, watch the sun set over the water. Fresh fish and other dishes based on local ingredients emerge from the wood-fired oven in the open kitchen; a variety of oysters on the half shell beckon from the raw bar. About 20 of the wines on the extensive, mostly California list are poured by the glass. Service is uneven and can be amateurish for the setting.

We live in Fresno. We reserved a table for 3 on Valentine's day. We emailed the restaurant for the menu and they gave us a Fixed price dinner rate of $45 per person. My friend then called them to see if we could also order off the menu that night as it was a special day and we wanted to check. Yes, was the reply on the phone to Windows. We reserved a table then. We arrived on time, the place was NOT crowded. The waitress seated up immediately and gave us our unpriced menu.

We then asked about the price and she said it was $65 per person and there was no drinks included. This was a shock. We explained we had contacted them by email and phone 2 weeks prior and were told we could order off the menu and also have a fixed price meal at $45 per person if we chose.

She checked with the manager and informed us they were only serving the $65 per person meal that night. Drinks were extra.

We promptly got up and left the restaurant never to return again. We entered another restaurant and had to wait an hour for seating but it was fine with us. We mentioned to the host how upset we were after driving from Fresno to have Windows do this to us. He said, they are famous for this kind of treatment.

Windows had our table reserved for probably 2 hours for 3 people who walked out. And there was no line waiting to get in either. They deserved the loss of our patronage. I will never return and urge my friends to go somewhere else for dinner. In this economy, you can't afford to treat customers like this and survive.

I have been assured their food is excellent. We will never know.

I don't know what night the reviewer was there, but Windows has some of the best service on the Central Calif. coast. Maybe they were distracted by the fabulous view.
