Hotel Union Square Review

Tucked beside a money-exchange business along bustling Powell Street, this century-old hotel was erected for the 1915 Pan Pacific Exposition; behind the nondescript facade, design-centric interiors provide a dash of art deco-by-way-of-Egypt. The lobby gives voice to San Francisco's noir era (appropriate, as Dashiell Hammett once lived here), and it lures visitors to enjoy live music during wine hour. Compact rooms were spruced up in 2013 to offer recycled carpets and soundproofed windows to go along with the funky lighting, EQ3 furnishings, and rain showers. All rooms feature free Wi-Fi and flat-screen TVs. The one-of-a-kind suites include a Dashiell Hammett-themed suite and a Giants Dugout suite—a tribute to San Francisco's winning baseball team with everything from orange and black beanbags to peanuts and Cracker Jack. If you have little ones in tow, inquire about the toy-filled Kids Suite.

    GREAT Location!

My son and I recently stayed at the Hotel Union Square and loved it! Great location, clean, nicely appointed rooms and friendly staff. Oh, and also GREAT LOCATION! I would not hesitate to stay here again.
