Castro Theatre

Castro Theatre Review

An art deco showstopper, the Castro Theatre's exterior is marked by a large neon sign that is the neighborhood's crown jewel. The interior, along with the Mighty Wurlitzer preshow, transports you back to 1922 when the theater first opened. Foreign films, revivals, and local film festivals are just a few of the events you will find at this local treasure. Its sing-along movie musicals are most popular, drawing diverse crowds from across the city and creating lines that wrap around the block. Parking is limited in the Castro District, so taking public transportation is advised.
