The brainchild of a transplanted New Yorker, this tiny, two-level, art-deco-tinged watering hole that seats 49 is an ideal environment for upscale city denizens, hipsters, and corporate jockeys who have made this their hangout and, for the most part, kept the place a secret. And why shouldn't they? Happy hour (weekdays 5-8 pm) offers light fare and a number of excellent specialty cocktails; the place doesn't get jumping until around 10 pm, especially on weekends. Red lacquered walls, white leather couches optimal for people-watching, and the pièce de résistance—a stuffed peacock above the bar—add a touch of class and sass. Retreat to the cozy upstairs if you need to escape the clamor.
