Fodor's Review

An elegant palm-lined entrance and sparkling fountain welcome you to this bay-front hotel, which caters mainly to business travelers and conventioneers. Uncluttered, soundproof accommodations have cherry furnishings and signature Westin Heavenly beds. About one hundred of the rooms have bay views, and all bathrooms are outfitted with double showerheads. An atrium with skylights encloses the pool and hot tub area, and the fitness center has circuit, free-weight, and yoga

equipment, as well as individual TVs. The new Grill & Vine restaurant features sustainable seafood dishes like salmon medallion alla plancha and hand-crafted cocktails. Latte lovers will appreciate the Starbucks in the lobby. If you bring your pooch along, the hotel provides a complimentary dog bed.

Beat-up rooms need a facelift fast

The famous Heavenly Bed was the only good thing about the room. The wallpaper and furniture were scuffed, battered and stained. The bathroom was motel-quality, and the tub wouldn't drain. The "bay view" overlooks the parking lot. And while the exterior soundproofing does indeed block jet noise, the interior walls are paper-thin. I pointed all of this out to two front desk clerks, both of whom apologized insincerely. Until the rooms receive facelifts,

this hotel is not a good value.

Nice, quiet hotel almost on the runways at SFO!

I have stayed here a number of times, always when leaving on early morning flights from SFO. The rooms are cozy & comfortable and even though you can sit and watch planes take-off late into the night you rarely hear rumble. Very efficient soundproofing. Long term parking here is a bargain compared to the airport and you get a free shuttle to & from the airport.

Convenient, Nice Stay

The hotel offers great views of SFO and the Bay. Our room was very nice-you can't beat the Westin Heavenly Beds. The Kansas City Chiefs were staying in the hotel while we were there. Hotel is very convenient to the airport for late-arriving flights.

They must have had a bad week

As a Starwood Platinum prefered guest Westins and Sheratons are generally my first choice. I chose the Westin SFO to begin and end my trip to San Francisco due to it's convenient airport location. Unfortunately both check-ins went less than smooth. I had two rooms reserved for each stay and both times one room was canceled (most likely by an over zealous local hotel reservation office assuming it was a double booking!!). Even though I had confirmation

numbers for each reservation the hotel staff had a difficult time checking me in and correcting the situation. To make matters worse the front desk clerks seemed perpetually in a bad mood and even one of the front desk managers who briefly appeared seemed to be coping an attitude (with the staff and guests equally). There seemed to be constant waiting and problems associated with either visiting or calling (service express) the front desk throughout my stay. On the brighter side, the restaurant was pretty good although the service a bit slow (but very friendly nonetheless!). The rooms are very comfortable and we had a nice view of the bay. I generally give Westins very high marks for service and hope this was just a fluke. I will be returning to the property again in the next few weeks and will hope for the best!

Best Airport Hotel in America

I love the Westin SFO. It's a typical business hotel, yes, but it has a nice charm to it. I love watching airplanes take off from the adjoining runways...it's amazing that you really can't hear them!
