Rooms at this large, family-owned modern motel are more spacious than average, with sitting-dining areas, dark-wood traditional furniture, and wallpaper with muted yellow, brown, and green patterns. Some rooms have views of the Golden Gate Bridge. The huge and lovely suites ($225-$275), overlooking the eclectic mix of shops, coffeehouses, and neighborhood businesses on Chestnut Street, have one or two bedrooms and baths. They resemble typical San Francisco apartments, with hardwood floors, Oriental rugs, antique furnishings, marble wood-burning fireplaces, big living rooms, and fully equipped kitchens. Covered parking is under the building.

My ratings above are for the Cow Hollow Suites, not Cow Hollow Motor Inn. Service is lower simply because they are apartments and other than daily cleaning there is no "service" as such unless you go over to the motel's desk for help. This operation is a little unusual in that the Suites is actually a totally separate building from the motel units -- and miles apart in style and quality. The two separate divisions share an underground parking garage and a check in desk however. I've stayed in both. The apartments are really wonderful. I just tried to book for 10 months ahead and there were NONE available, but we changed to the next week because one was available. The motel rooms are quite large, most facing Lombard are pretty noisy, though. Still with free parking, it's a comfortable and clean and reasonable place to stay if you are on a budget. I love the neighborhood!
