Fodor's Review:

Among the many motels on busy Lombard Street, this is one of the cleanest, friendliest, and quietest, especially in the rooms not facing Lombard. The oak-panel lobby is decorated with leather furniture and photographs of historic San Francisco, and the unusually spacious rooms have cheery yellow wallpaper, gold drapes, oak furniture, and well-lighted dining and work areas. Many rooms have bay windows; some on the upper floors have partial views of the Golden Gate Bridge. Covered parking is under the building.

The Coventry is a sister property of the Cow Hollow Motor Inn and usually has availability when the Cow Hollow is booked. We have been staying at the Cow Hollow for over 20 years, and the Coventry is almost identical to the Cow Hollow, but I'd venture to say the rooms a little more spacious and, as the Fodors review states, "cheery" decoration. Being on the other side of Lombard to the Cow Hollow, this property is a little closer to Union Street, but one block and a street from our beloved Chestnut Street. It is a terrific area even if it's on a busy street, and has everything one needs for a very pleasant stay in San Francisco. The number 30 bus on Chestnut takes you right to Fisherman's Wharf. Good (free) parking, and loads of neat little restaurants to eat at nearby.
