Fodor's Review

Five blocks from the Marina, this four-story 1924 building feels like a B&B but is priced like a motel. Spacious rooms were given a snazzy new look in 2013 with Urban Outfitters–inspired bedding, fresh wallpaper and carpets, and TVs with DVD players and CD players. Some rooms have daybeds appropriate for a small child. The rooms facing Octavia and Lombard streets have bay windows with window seats, but they are noisier than the inside rooms. A simple Continental

breakfast is served in the central sitting room.

Ants

We thought the location was pretty good actually. We were happy to walk everywhere and found it central to all of San Francisco and Golden Gate too. Not far from a busy street full of restaraunts for the evening. Out only downer on our visit was an infestation of ants overnight which left our luggage riddled. But the staff were happy to completely wash/dry our clothes whilst we went out for the day and relocated us to another better room at no cost.

A little shabby, but good location

Just returned from a stay at the Marina Inn. The location is good--it's one block from the 30 bus route (goes to Union Square & Fisherman's Wharf), and only 3 blocks from Union Street (lots of restaurants). But the hotel itself was a disappointment. The rooms on either Octavia or Lombard are very noisy with traffic noise. The furnishings as a whole were beat up, blinds were broken, the carpet was stained, and the room seemed tired. On the upside,

the staff was very pleasant, friendly, and helpful. From the outside, I think the Cow Hollow Motor Inn & Coventry Inn looked better. Also, for $100 a night, I think you can get a deal at some of the major chains at Fisherman's Wharf.

Almost, but not quite

Everything about this hotel is almost but not quite what it is supposed to be. While making the attempt to be a nice B&B or european style hotel it comes up short. Our room was cramped and dirty/dusty. The parking was three blocks away and expensive. "Breakfast" consisted entirely of stale breads. There are better options all withing blocks of this hotel that are better values and more comfortable.

Marina Inn - Great Value

The Marina Inn is a great value. Small, attractive lobby with nice staff. When I booked the room I requested a quiet room (had heard some sides of the hotel were noisy), and I incorrectly assumed our accomodations would be on "inside" of the building. Our room was lovely and big (for $85/night), but on Octavia St. After checking the room, I requested a quieter room, they had none for us. But it turned out fine, the street noise did not bother

us at all. However, the Lombard side might be a big noisier. The room was very nice, but the walls were exceptionally thin. Heard EVERYTHING that was going on in the room behind us. Even normal conversation was heard (it was 3:00 a.m., and it woke us up). The continental breakfast was very nice and well stocked. A great value for San Francisco, in a good neighborhood a few blocks from the water. We walked early in the morning (before sunrise) and felt safe. I will return to the Marina Inn.
