Best Western Plus–The Tuscan

Pros

  • Wine and beer hour
  • Cozy feeling
  • Great location near Fisherman's Wharf

Cons

  • Congested touristy area
  • Small rooms

Fodor's Review

The redbrick facade of this hotel some Fodors.com users describe as a "hidden treasure" barely hints at the Tuscan country villa that lies within. Each small, Italianate room has white-pine furniture, a completely mirrored wall, and a refurbished bathroom. Rooms are decked out in whimsical stripes, polka dots, and vibrant colors, mixing these playful touches with more classic ones such as stately gray headboards. Complimentary beverages are laid out each morning near the

fireplace in the spruced-up lobby, where a convivial wine hour is held nightly. There's free morning limousine service to the Financial District, though guests must find their own way back. Pescatore, the Italian seafood restaurant off the lobby, provides room service for breakfast.

Hidden Treasure on Fisherman's Wharf

Don't bother looking up any other hotels on the wharf. This is the one to choose. You feel like you are at home with the soft couches and chairs surrounding the large fireplace in the lobby. The free wine and beer beginning at 5 PM every day is a great touch. Rooms maybe small but who stays in their room while on vacation or on business. Would return in a minute.

A bit over-rated, and quite bland...

The hotel isn't particularly cheap, it has no leisure facilities, the rooms are a bit cramped. The staff on reception are ok, but no more than that. The best thing about this hotel is the restuarant on the corner, first class service, and first class food. To be fair this was my first visit to San Fran, so I can't comment on the areas other hotels. The location is brilliant for visit to Alcatraz, plus cable car rides.

Probably the nicest on the Wharf

Just got back from a weekend at the Tuscan Inn. Yes, the rooms are TINY!! Very tiny but clean and nice and seem new, not run down at all. The staff was very helpful and friendly as well. Loved the wine hour - while I was there they also had complementary chair massages - great after a long day of sight seeing (I'm sure a nice tip is expected though). Seems like the best place for couples that want a quieter place - not as many kids. I would

stay here again.

Viva the Tuscan!

We've styaed here 2x this year already and will def. try and stay maybe a 3rd and 4th if we go back to SF. Had stayed there in the past and the place hasn't missed a beat. Booked it thru Hotwire and Pricline in the $70-80/night range. Great value. Very good service, location and the att. restaurant, Cafe Pescatore, is also very good for breakfast and dinner.

Cincierge and Valet attendants could be MENTORS to others

True southern hospitality out west. Other than the small room, everything else was first class. the entire staff was very friendly and helpful. The concierge was extremely accommadating in making recommendations for meals and sights to see. Located near the Wharf and the Cable Car Turnout makes it very convenient.

Highly Recommend This Inn

Value for money, you can't go wrong. Though the rooms are smallish, they are very nice, have all the amenities and are immaculate. The staff was wonderful, very friendly and helpful. And the attached restaurant, Cafe Pescatore, has fantastic food and superb service. I'll definitely stay and eat here again.

Great Location

In my opinion, Tuscan Inn offers the best location within Fisherman's Wharf. Attentive services and a great inhouse restaurant. No noise problem facing a courtyard. 1-minute walk to Barnes & Nobles. Helpful concierge and valet attendants. A room is smallish but comfortable.
