Fodor's Review

The proximity of this beach-themed, three-story 1950s motor lodge to Funston Playground, Fort Mason, the Walt Disney Family Museum, the Presidio, Crissy Field, and Chestnut Street's munchkin-favored shops already qualify this place as kid-friendly, but the toys, games, DVDs, outdoor saltwater heated pool with plenty of inflatable playthings, snow cones on summer weekends, and afternoon cookies and milk make it a virtual haven for little ones. Fully renovated in 2013, the

splashy rooms feature beach-themed art, blown-glass bedside lamps, a bright orange accent wall, and tufted white and silver headboards. Because the Del Sol is only two blocks from Union Street shopping and restaurants, with easy access off Lombard Street, it will please adults, too. The hotel offers free morning town-car service to the Financial District for business travelers.

Better than expected

Great price - especially for San Fran ($103 for 2 double beds - which was an Expedia rate that they honored). Nice, quiet, safe neighborhood. I was originally concerned that this would be too far off the beaten path for us, but a two block walk to the #30 bus took us to Fisherman's Wharf in 10 minutes. The room was clean and cheerful. The staff was genuinely friendly and helpful. Free continental breakfast was much better than other hotels' I've

experienced. Plus, free parking! A great value - I definitely recommend it.
