Savvy diners know that Pagolac serves a great "seven-way beef" dinner, the classic south Vietnamese feast of seven different beef dishes, from soup to salad to spring rolls and more, for an unbelievable $15 per person. This is also a good place for lotus root salad with pink shrimp, all kinds of rolls (both fried and fresh), noodles or rice topped with aromatic grilled pork chops or beef strips, and big bowls of pho. The narrow space is attractively decorated in dark wood tables and chairs and a few nice pieces of Vietnamese art, and the service, though sometimes a little ragged, is always friendly. Of course, such low prices and good food haven't remained a secret, so come before six or after nine to avoid a long wait for a table.
