Fodor's Review

This historic property that survived the 1906 earthquake serves up a healthy dose of art, cuisine, and style—the latter even in compact guest rooms enlivened with brick walls. Guests enter the small whitewashed lobby showcasing local art installations, and a cage elevator delivers patrons to the signature Burritt Room and Tavern. The Berlinetta Lounge acts as the hotel's living room and is where guests can enjoy a housemade Continental breakfast. Standard rooms are equipped with tiled showers and vessel sinks, along with locally sourced honor bars (including jerky and gin crafted in San Francisco). Though the hotel has attempted to soundproof windows and bring in blackout curtains, city noise abounds, so request a higher floor. Guests can order comfort food like burgers and fried chicken to be delivered from the restaurant.
