Gay & Lesbian Travel in San Diego

Gay & Lesbian Travel

With a large and visible gay community, San Diego is earning points as one of the country's most gay-friendly destinations. Hillcrest is the main gay neighborhood and retail district, with many bars, cafés, and shops. Update, a weekly gay paper, is available in Hillcrest and at a few locations downtown; the gay-lesbian bookstore Obelisk, in Hillcrest, is an excellent resource and hangout. The annual Pride Parade, Rally, and Festival takes place in Balboa Park over a weekend in July.
