Wildlife Research Institute

Wildlife Research Institute Review

The 4,000 acres of grasslands that have been preserved in the Ramona Valley are a good place to enjoy seeing wildlife in a natural setting. The grasslands are typical of much of the Southern California landscape before development. A half century ago grasslands formed the backdrop for Western movies where cowboys rode off into the sunset. This small parcel supports more raptors than any other place in Southern California and is home to falcons, hawks, owls, and eagles, as well as bobcats, coyotes, and badgers. The institute sponsors hawk watch weekends in January and February.
