A step inside what was the mine superintendent's home in the run-down-looking remnant of an old gold mine dug into a hillside on Banner Grade, 5 miles east of Julian, reveals a wealth of contemporary art. Five rooms are filled with paintings, photos, sculpture, ceramics, stained glass, and woven pieces by Julian artists. Prices range from $30 or less for photos and pottery to hundreds of dollars for paintings. Closed Monday through Thursday.
