Reservations are a good idea for this Mediterranean-inspired bistro above La Jolla Cove. On the lower level of Coast Walk center, this romantic eatery has dining rooms that are semi-open to the weather and the view, yet sufficiently sheltered for comfort. Choose from New Zealand mussels baked with crumbs, chopped almonds, and herbs; a lobster potpie crowned with puff pastry; and seasonal agnolotti pasta stuffed with wild mushrooms and black truffles. The superb wine list earns kudos from aficionados.

5-7 yrs. ago, (2000-2002 time frame), the food was excellent. It's not so now. There's a lot of it and it has some flavors but, it's only a picture of its former self.

We had dinner here twice in the week we were in town. The stuffed quail was to die for and my husband loved the veal chop. Service was excellent and sitting outside in the small terrazzo area was really nice.
