This long-running hit on the fringe of Hillcrest offers a romantic, low-key dining room and a stylish, sheltered patio that overlooks busy 5th Avenue. The lengthy menu zeroes in on elegant, fully flavored Sicilian specialties -- it may be the only place in San Diego offering an insalata di citrioli, a salad of cucumbers, corn, tomatoes, and Gorgonzola. The pasta dishes include familiar favorites, but classically Sicilian is the rigatoni in an aromatic sausage-caper sauce; the stuffed, breaded veal spiedini (on skewers) also is superb.
