Bertrand at Mister A's

Fodor's Review

Restaurateur Bertrand Hug's sumptuous 12th-floor dining room offers serene decor, contemporary paintings, and a view that stretches to Mexico, making it perfect for a sunset cocktail. It's a popular destination for wedding anniversaries, power lunches, and other significant meals. Chef Stephane Voitzwinkler creates luxurious seasonal dishes such as duck confit, sauteéed scallops with risotto, and grilled lamb chops with braised artichokes. The dessert list encompasses

a galaxy of sweets. Service, led by the charming Hug, is expert and attentive.

Perfect spot to take a date

I brought a Girlfriend here to Mister A's and we were shocked at how attentive and nice the staff was. They met all my needs and surpassed my wildest expectations. With a view like that the service set this place over the edge. I recommend this restaurant to anyone who lives in San Diego, or anyone who is visiting San Diego. This is truly the gem in San Diego.

Delicious Way to Bring in the 4th

We (party of 3) celebrated the 4th of July at Bertrand at Mister A's -- the food was delicious, the service was very attentive and the view of the fireworks was unparalleled. We were able to see 6 firework displays across the horizon from the outdoor patio. Two of us started with the white asparagus salad, which was tender and amazing. My husband started with the tomato mozzarella salad, which he raved about. For the main course, we had the beef

tenderloin, which my friend said, "melted in his mouth", and the salmon, which was good, although just a bit dry. For dessert, we had a hawaiian pineapple drizzled with a rum sauce and a very decadent, very rich bittersweet chocolate fondant. It was all delicious and made the 4th of July a truly memorable holiday. I highly recommend this restaurant.

A Real Treat

Go for the view, ambiance, service and food. You won't be dissapointed. Attention Fodors: It is not a peach tart...it's a pear tart...delicious!

World's Most Expensive Chain Restaurant

As if Mille Fleurs weren't already the most overpriced, overrated place in the city, our little friend has decided to take over a San Diego landmark (Mister A's) and drive it into the ground. Thanks Bertrand, but no thanks. I've eaten all over the world, and I'd rather eat at McDonalds then have a meal at Bertrand's place again.
