Baja Lobster

$-$$, Seafood, Chula Vista

User Rating: ***** 4.6

Fodor's Review:

To experience something akin to dining in Puerto Nuevo, Baja California -- the famed lobstering village south of the border -- head to this excellent but quite informal eatery, easily reached from I-5. Local lobsters are split and lightly fried, served with family-style portions of fresh flour tortillas, creamy beans crammed with flavor, and well-seasoned rice. Although lobsters are the big catch, steak and chicken options are on the menu, too, and there's full bar service. A pair of high-quality shrimp tacos costs just $5.95. Note that a similarly named chain, Rockin' Baja Lobster, is not related to Baja Lobster.

Amazing

Ever since one of my friends discovered this place through Fodor's Guide 2 years ago, Baja Lobster has been a staple dinner place for us. The service has been great and very personable every time we've been there, and the food is excellent. It's too bad we're at least 20 minutes away from it by car, but it's definitely worth the drive. I'm living in SD while I goto school here, but I'm never forgetting this place when I leave. I recommend the lobster, but the rice and beans are amazing.

Great Food and No TJ 2 Step

The food was just as good as south of the border without the hassle of going through customs. I felt like I was in Puerto Nuevo without the ocean view.
