Saffron Noodles

Saffron Noodles Review

Outdoor tables on a narrow sidewalk and inexpensive prices make this and the neighboring Saffron Thai Grilled Chicken takeout worth a short detour from Old Town. The simple menu has spicy and mild noodle soups; stir-fried noodles with chicken, beef, pork, or shrimp; and a couple of uncommon Vietnamese and Thai-Indian noodle dishes bathed with aromatic sauces: the spicy "Eslam" dish is made of wide rice noodles stir-fried with chicken or tofu in a sauce of turmeric, lemongrass, and chiles. The Saffron Noodles restaurant has a minimalist look but is sunny and comfortable. Go next door for to-go boxes of the namesake grilled half chicken served with jasmine rice, tart-sweet cucumber salad, and savory house-made peanut sauce.
