That Hob Nob never seems to change suits San Diego just fine; this is the type of place where regulars delight in ordering the same meal they've been ordering for 20 years. With its dark-wood booths and patterned carpets, the restaurant seems suspended in the 1950s, but you don't need to be a nostalgia buff to appreciate the bargain-price American home cooking—dishes such as pecan rolls, fried chicken, and corned beef like your mother never really made. The crowds line up morning, noon, and night. Reservations are suggested for Sunday breakfast.

During our stay in San Diego we ate at this resturant. The service was poor and food was subpar.
