Ave 5

Ave 5 Review

In a brick-walled space that feels a bit like an art gallery, San Diego native and chef-owner Colin MacLaggan serves American cuisine with a French twist for dinner and Sunday brunch. In the evening, start with the crispy calamari or the baked Camembert salad with pecans, grapefruit, and honey vinaigrette. Excellent mains include grilled salmon with quinoa, lamb burger with truffle fries, and glazed short rib. The restaurant is known for cocktails such as the signature Ave 5, crafted with house-made blueberry tonic and vodka or gin. Desserts shine as well; the fromage blanc cheesecake is not to be missed.
