There's a modern chic to the earth-toned lobby of this beach hotel, making it feel you've arrived somewhere much more expensive. The resort's rooms all have sofa sleepers—great for families—and bay views. The Bay View suites also have wet bars with granite counters and two flat-screen TVs. Some rooms are fairly standard hotel fare; be sure to ask for one of the newer Courtyard rooms, which are in two-story buildings without elevators. SeaWorld and the beach are within walking distance; there's also a free shuttle. The Marina Village Conference Center across the street offers meeting and banquet rooms with bay views. Pros: Free parking, water views, two pools. Cons: Slightly confusing layout, not centrally located.

What a great resort! The staff went above and beyond to ensure a pleasant and comfortable stay. We were treated as if we had paid a fortune for the room. The room was clean, the restaurants were delicious, the shuttle was convenienent and the front desk employees were so accomodating. We will definitely be staying here again on our next trip to San Diego.
